How to Use Migration Assistant to Migrate from Windows PC to MacBook

I just bought a new MacBook to use for my upcoming courses.I set it up, migrated my data, and began using it within the hour.
Setting up a new MacBook might take bit of time, but it really isn’t as difficult as it may seem. In fact, you can set up your MacBook in under 25 minutes.
However, migrating data can certainly take more time than that, though it depends on the amount of data being transferred amoung other things.
In this guide, I will show you how to efficiently transfer data from your Windows PC to your MacBook.
Migration Assistant preperation:
- Make sure both of your devices are up to date.
- Make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Note: Some of these steps may vary depending on your Windows PC, software versions, and other variables.

On your PC, visit support.apple.com and download the Migration Assistant app for Windows.
To download the Migration Assistant app:
- Visit support.apple.com
- Click “download.”
- Allow the app to make changes (this prompt may occur more than once).
- Open the download.
- Click “next.”

On your MacBook, open Migration Assistant. If you aren’t sure where to locate it, don’t worry. There are several ways. The easiest is to search for it using Spotlight Search.

Check that the numbers on the PC and MacBook match. On the PC, click “continue.” Then, click “continue” on the MacBook too.

Select the information to transfer and click “continue.” If you are unsure, don’t alter the data and allow it all to transfer.

At this point, you may need to create a password for the user on your MacBook. Once you do, click “set password.”

Allow the data to transfer. The time may jump and move until the data is done transferring.

That’s it! Migration is now complete! Click “done” on your MacBook and close Migration Assistant on your Windows PC.
