How to Delete Hidden App Data from Google Drive

Whether we realize it or not, personal cybersecurity is one of the most important issues online. While most technology companies we interact with regularly have our security in mind, there are still things that users can do on their own to protect their information and files.
Google already has a robust digital security system in place, but there’s one area for improvement that most Google Drive users don’t know about. When you download and log into a mobile app or game using your Gmail account, you might be unknowingly giving that company access to your Google Drive. While apps for storage or writing do have a need for access, most don’t need to see your files.
This guide will go through the process of seeing what apps or games have access to your Google Drive and how to remove the hidden app data from Google Drive completely!

The Manage Apps tab will list out the apps that have been connected to your Google Drive. When you find an app you’d like to disconnect or remove its data, click the Options drop-down menu beside it.
While an app might not be connected anymore, some do show that their data is still being stored on your Google Drive. Choose to either disconnect or remove hidden app data from the menu and continue on to the next step!

Another pop-up will appear asking you to confirm if you’d like to delete the data. Hit delete to finish!
